Today, women are developing their careers in unique ways that differ from the conservative norms. That is why more women are entering into fields like welding, inspection, manufacturing, QA/QC, construction, etc. and excelling in diverse job roles that were once reserved for men. There are many women who aspire to be in the welding industry irrespective of challenges attached to the sector.

On 30 and 31 January 2020, TWI India conducted the CSWIP Visual Welding Inspection (3.0) programme at Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore. A total of 26 women participated in the programme which was inaugurated by Mr P Murali – Deputy Director of Boilers at Tamil Nadu State Government, Coimbatore. He shared his experience and gave a motivational speech to the young engineers. Mr. Jayakumar Johnson, Manager of Welding and Painting, TWI India, delivered this programme.

This two day programme generated lot of interest among the participants, which was evident through the lively discussions during the sessions. TWI India would like to take the opportunity to thank Dr G Suganya Priyadharshini who organised this event successfully.
