NDE 2019 Conference and Exhibition

TWI India was a Gold Sponsor at the NDE 2019 Conference and Exhibition in Bangalore, India between 5th and 7th December, 2019. 

The NDE event is an annual flagship event of the Indian Society for NDT and this year’s conference took the theme of ‘Endeavours from Detection to Prediction.’

The conference was opened by Shri Alok Nanda, the CEO of GE India Technology Centre and CTO of GE South Asia. The exhibition was opened by distinguished scientist and director GTRE DRDO, Shri M.Z. Siddique before Dr R.J. Pardikar, TWI India’s Chief Manager of NDT and president of the ISNT, delivered the presidential address.

Dr Pardikar’s address spoke on emerging NDT techniques and Industry 4.0 before he chaired the technical sessions at the event. In addition, he also took a pre-conference tutorial, including sessions on thermal imaging, 3D X-ray imaging, NDE in aircraft manufacturing and NDE in civil structures.

The exhibition included 1100 delegates and 60 exhibitors, including NDT equipment manufacturers, service providers and research institutes. There were also 35 plenary /invite talks, 2 memorial talks and 200 technical presentations from eminent personalities and experts from both India and abroad.

Among these presentations was a plenary talk on ‘Artificial Intelligence for PAUT’ by TWI UK’s Principal Project Leader, Neil Harrap. There was also a special session female empowerment by four eminent women from the astrospace, aerospace, oil and gas, and IT sectors. There was also a quiz on NDT for attendees to participate in.

The TWI India stand was designed to focus on the South East Asia Skills Enhancement Programme (SEASEP), with a number of potential clients visiting the stall to discuss the programme and more. Among the visitors were dignitaries from NTPC, IITM, Rolls-Royce, DRDO, HPCL, BHEL, Midhani, and GE, among others.

Many of the delegates demonstrated a keen interest in visiting the TWI India stand and finding out more about the TWI training and certification programmes.
